Victoria (Vicki)'s Story

Geez, I haven't updated my "story" for 3 years!!!!! But, since turning 60 and refusing to acknowledge it- I instead decided to be 54 forever.....so this year, my birthday fell on Thanksgiving, and I celebrated turning 54 again!!! I am still in my condo in Apple Valley, which I am in the process of redecorating (thanks to faulty plumbing and a major flood) so it has been a major pain- insurance company, contractors, choosing carpeting, cabinetry, etc. Haven't been traveling, except for visiting my daughter, son-in-law and 3 adorable granddaughters in Houston. My oldest granddaughter Betsy (Elizabeth) Jane - is 5, started Kindergarten already reading and writing.....exceptionally bright and as sweet as she is smart....and a total "Grammy's girl." Then I have the most adorable twin 2 1/2 year old twin granddaughters, Emily Brooks and Margo (Margaret) Grace....different in so many ways- Emily is certain she is indeed a princess- insists on wearing only dresses regardless of the weather, and Margo who is too hilarious for words- manages to make it to the "naughty chair" on a daily basis. I have been single for the past 15 years, was in one long term relationship that was great while it lasted, but is so over! Still am friends with a lot of the people...Expand for more
we went to school with, and a group of us get together as often as we can find a reason- or for no reason. I was working in the funeral industry for over 10 years- funeral planner, pre-need planning, cemetery property sales, and family service director- but twisted my knee while on the cemetery grounds and did major damage to it. I will be having a knee replacement in February or March-----then 6 months later, will have the other knee replaced. Not looking forward to any of it, but I've seen the x-rays and reviewed the MRI....I really have no choice. I don't feel ready to retire yet, so after all the knee stuff is over, I will no doubt go back to work...and though I am keeping all of my licenses, I have been in counseling, social work and the funeral industry for so long- I think I have done my fair share of helping others- and it would be a lot less stressful to change fields. I will always do some type of volunteer work- it is simply a part of me, but anyone that has put in as many years as I have in gut wrenching work will relate to my need to change vocations. Guess I could teach poll dancing at the senior center.......just kidding!!!!!! OK- so now you know what has been going on in my life----I would love to hear what is going on in yours!
